Baseball Set for Huge Matchup Against Tulane

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB Baseball team is getting ready for a huge weekend in American Athletic Conference play. The Blazers will host Tulane for a three game series starting Friday.
UAB is headed into the series on a four game skid with a loss to Auburn last night. Heading into the 8th inning UAB led 4-3. The Blazers will look to shake that rust off this weekend when they face Tulane.
UAB is now 12-16 with a 1-5 conference record ahead of the big weekend. UAB has just seven hits in the last two games with Darryl Buggs getting three of those last night against Auburn. The Blazers have faced Tulane a total of 38 times winning 18 of those games. The last time the two teams played was in 2014 when UAB swept Tulane in a three game series. The Blazers have won five straight games against Tulane.
Starting Rotation
The regular Friday starter Blayze Berry will make his 8th start of the year. Berry comes into the game with a 2.34 ERA and a 3-1 record. Berry got recognized as one of the top starting pitchers in the nation by making the D1Baseball top 150 starting pitchers list. The Saturday starter will be Braxton Shelton making his 7th start of the season. Shelton has a 3.69 ERA with 17 strikeouts and a 1-3 record. Sunday we will see Colin Daniel making his 8th start of the year. Daniel comes into the series with a 4-2 record with 30 strikeouts and a 3.27 ERA.
Tulane
The Green Waves enter the series with a 16-13 record and a 2-4 conference record. Tulane is led by 2nd year head coach Jay Uhlman. He has been on staff with Tulane for five years now. Chandler Welch and Luc Fladda lead the Green Waves in innings pitched with 38.1 and 32.0. Welch comes into the weekend with a 3.76 ERA and a 3-1 record. Fladda has a 3.94 ERA with 32 strikeouts and a 0-1 record. In the hitting department, Tulane is led by Gavin Shulz (.333 BA) and Brady Marget (.315 BA). Schulz leads the team in RBIs with 25 and doubles with nine. Marget leads the team in hits with 35 and also has 19 RBIs.
