Baseball Leads Late, but Falls to Auburn

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB baseball team played at Regions Field for the second and final time this season against Auburn. The Tigers got the best of UAB with a seven run 8th inning.

Both teams scored two runs in the first inning with Auburn getting on the board first. A double down the left field line by Cooper Weiss scored the first run. The Next run came on a single to right field that was able to score Weiss. Brayton Brown started off the UAB scoring with a double that hit the left field wall. This was his first hit since March 19th. Gavin Lewis Jr. then scored Brown on a single up the right side.

UAB went on to take the lead in the 3rd inning when Brown got another hit and RBI. A throwing error helped score Buggs and Braunschweig on Brown's single to center field. Brown was two for two on the day so far and responsible for three of the four runs.

Innings 4-6 went by very quickly as only three hits came during that time. One of those hits was a long bomb, by former Blazer Christian Hall. He homered to left field to make the score 4-2 UAB.

The Tigers exploded for seven runs in the 8th inning to seal the deal. Three Auburn Tigers hit two times in the 8th innings with Peirce starting off the scoring with a two run shot to left field. A bundle of six more hits would score five more runs.

Darryl Buggs: 3 for 4 with a stolen base
Brayton Brown: 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs
Christian Clack: 1.0 innings pitched with 2 strikeouts and retired all three batters.

Next Game
UAB will host a three game series this weekend against Tulane. Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.
