Baseball Falls in Series Finale Against UTSA

SAN ANTONIO, TX - The UAB baseball team dropped the series finale in San Antonio, Texas. The team gave up 12 runs and lost the series against UTSA.

The Roadrunners were the first ones on the board when they scored on a wild pitch. UAB answered in the 3rd with a single by Logan Braunschweig that scored Darryl Buggs. Braunschweig was then able to score when Brayton Brown grounded out to 3rd base. In the same inning, the Roadrunners tied the game after a single from James Taussig.

Seven of the 15 total runs in the game were scored in innings three-five. UAB retook the lead when Mayes White drove in Tyler Waugh in the 4th inning. White hit .333 this week with five hits in four games. Tyler Waugh hit a triple down the left field line to get on 3rd. UAB led 3-2. The Roadrunners came back in the 5th inning and put up three runs to regain the lead. UAB had two of their five total errors in this inning allowing UTSA to score three.

UTSA scored another five runs in the 7th inning. The Blazers walked two and hit one batter, paired with the three hits, allowed those five runs. The scoring continued in the 8th inning, when Diego Diaz hit a single to left field. Mark Henning then reached on an error which scored James Taussig. UTSA won the game by a score of 12-3.
