Baseball Starts Five Game Home Stand Tomorrow Night Against Jacksonville State

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB baseball team will start their five game home stand tomorrow night against Jacksonville State. The two teams played earlier this year in a 14-3 win for the Gamecocks. The Blazers will also host Charlotte in an American Athletic Conference series this weekend.
UAB is coming off of a series loss to UTSA where they won the first game, but lost the next two. The Blazers have scored 218 runs allowing opponents to score 245. UAB has stolen 47 bases throughout the year being efficient on the base pads.
UAB vs Jacksonville State
Jacksonville State enters the Wednesday midweek game with a record of 14-23. The Gamecocks have won three series on the year with wins over Memphis, Iowa, and FIU. Caleb Johnson leads the Gamecocks hitting .311 with nine home runs and 33 RBIs. Will Baker leads the pitching staff with a 5.36 ERA in 42.0 innings pitch. Jacksonville State has allowed 283 runs as a team.
On the mound, Brooks House (7.15) will make his 4th start and 14th appearance. House last made a start against Alabama where he went just one inning giving up two home runs and four hits. House has been one of the consistent midweek guys ever since Isaac Warrick got injured in week two.
UAB vs Charlotte
UAB will also host a three game series against Charlotte this weekend. Charlotte comes to Birmingham after sweeping Memphis and vaulting themselves to 3rd place in the American Conference standings. Charlotte has won four series on the year with just the one sweep of Memphis. Carson Bayne (.309) and AJ Bianchina (.340) are leading the team in batting average. Bayne has played in all 40 games, starting 39 of them. Bianchina has appeared in just 21 games, starting 14 of them. The team holds a .255 batting average. On the mound, three players have started eight or more games. Cole Reynolds has 10 starts with a 5.66 ERA and 47.2 innings pitched. Chase Carson has eight starts with a 6.59 ERA and 28.2 innings pitched. Finally, Cameron Hansen has made eight starts with a 6.94 ERA and 36.1 innings pitched. The team holds a 6.26 ERA.
The Series is all tied up at 36 currently. Last year Charlotte swept the Blazers by a total score of 17-7. The 49er's have won eight out of the last nine games.
