14 Runs Secures Midweek Victory

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB Baseball team got back to winning ways tonight against Jacksonville State. An offensive explosion for both teams, put up 22 total runs in a 14-8 win for UAB.
Jacksonville State started off the scoring with a solo home run by Caleb Johnson. UAB answered with a run of their own in the 1st. Logan Braunschweig scored Darryl Buggs with a single to left center.
The scoring was not even close to ending as both teams would explode in innings three-six. JSU hit another home run in the 3rd, and then had a five hit 4th inning scoring three runs for the Gamecocks. JSU hit the ball 14 times but left nine on base, but the Blazers continued to answer. Brayton Brown reached on an error, and Gavin Lewis Jr. scored him with a single. With two men on Tyler Harrington then stepped up and sent a ball out to left field that ever came back. He made the score UAB 6, JSU 5.
It was back to back five run innings to give the Blazers a 11-6 lead. Five runs on six hits and four different players recorded an RBI just in the 5th. JSU hit their 3rd home run of the game in the 6th. Once again UAB answered with three runs int he 6th and 7th. Harrington hit is 6th RBI of the game with a double to right field. Joe Watkins then singled and scored two UAB runners to end the scoring for the Blazers.
Jacksonville State tried to make a push in the 9th inning, but they did not have enough juice. Drew Collins hit a double to left center to score the last run of the game, but the Gamecocks left another two runners on base in that inning.
21 total hits and 22 total runs ends a crazy midweek game with a cross state rival.
