MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The UAB Blazers (16-34, 7-20) down Middle Tennessee (25-24, 14-13) by a score of 6-2 on Sunday, May 14 to take the final game of the series.
The Blazers scored first after Gavin Lewis Jr. hit a two-run homer to left field then, after MTSU tied the game, plated three more runs to retake and extend their lead. The fourth, fifth and sixth innings stood scoreless until the Blazers scored their final run of the game in the seventh.
Starting pitcher Carson Myers (3-5) threw a career-high eight innings to secure the win while holding the Blue Raiders to only two runs on four hits with one walk and six strikeouts. Leo Harris entered the game in the ninth to collect the final three outs for UAB.
Four Blazers collected a multi-hit game including Christian Hall (2-for-5), Brandon Willoughby (2-for-4), Gavin Lewis Jr. (2-for-4) and Brayton Brown (2-for-5). Hall collected a single and his 10th double on the year while Lewis Jr. collected his fourth home run – second of the series – and most RBI in a game with three. Willoughby and Brown both collected two singles.

UAB will meet Samford for the final game of the home-and-home series between the two teams. First pitch is set for 6 P.M. on Tuesday, May 16.
