UAB Drops Game One in Final Regular Season Series

BIRMINGHAM – UAB (16-35, 7-21) dropped the opening game of the series to Florida Atlantic (32-22, 15-13) at Young Memorial Field on Thursday, May 18.

The Blazers were out hit by the Owls (9-21) during the 16-5 loss. Of those hits, Brandon Willoughby (2-for-5) and Gavin Lewis Jr. (2-for-4) picked up multi-hit games including a home run, an RBI and two runs from UAB's shortstop Lewis Jr. Henry Hunter picked up his third homer of the year.

Starter, Brooks Walton (3-7), received the loss after he allowed 10 runs on 10 hits during his two and one third innings. JC Sewell, Ty Hutto and Chase Ingram spent time on the mound. Sewell allowed four runs on six hits after spending three and two third innings on the mound. Ty Hutto relieved Sewell and threw two complete innings while he allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts. Ingram spent the final inning on the mound for UAB and gave up one run on two hits during his five batters faced.
