Blazers Conclude Regular Season with Southern Miss Home Series

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB softball team wraps up the regular season at Mary Bowers Field with a four-game series against Southern Miss this weekend, May 7-9.
The Blazers enter their final home stand on a six-game winning streak.
LAST TIMEOUT
The Blazers' (26-17, 12-4 C-USA) last game was a 3-2 victory on the road at Samford on April 28. Faith Hegh led the team with three hits against the Bulldogs and was just a triple short of hitting for the cycle, with a home run, a single and a double.
Amy Woodham earned her fifth straight victory in the circle in the win, allowing just four hits, no runs and striking out two batters.
UAB currently ranks No. 2 in the Conference USA standings, behind just North Texas who has a (14-2) record.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN MISS (21-28, 3-13 C-USA)
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 3-1 series loss on the road in Ruston versus Louisiana Tech.
At the plate, Southern Miss is led by Alyssa Davis who is batting a team-high .327. She leads the team in hits (54), doubles (8), RBIs (36) and total bases (85).
Destini Brown has also had a productive season for Southern Miss, batting .296 and slugging a team-high .536. She leads C-USA in walks this season (33), followed behind by Sierra Frazier (28) and KK Crocker (24), who rank second and third, respectively, in the league.
In the circle, the Golden Eagles are led by Morgan Leinstock who has pitched a team-high 93.2 innings and owns a 2.99 ERA.
SIERRA FRAZIER'S A HIT
Sierra Frazier leads UAB in almost every offensive category: batting average (.384), slugging percentage (.688), home runs (8), walks (28), on-base percentage (.534), total bases (77) and runs scored (28) and is the only Blazer to start all 43 games.
She holds the top on-base percentage and fielding percentage in C-USA, while also ranks in the Top-5 in batting average, home runs, walks, and slugging. She has had 10 multi-hit games and has reached base in 26 straight games.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
As a team, UAB ranks third in the league with 62 double bags this season. Faith Hegh (11) and Jenna Olszewski (10) rank third and sixth in the conference in the category.
SENIOR DAY
The series finale on Sunday at 12 p.m. is Senior Day for our six graduating seniors: KK Crocker, Jenna Olszewski, Amy Woodham, Parker Conrad, Analyse Petree and Emily Kachel.
