Curry Announces UAB Softball Coaching Staff

BIRMINGHAM – UAB softball head coach Megan Curry has announced the addition of Hunter Veach, Ryan Greenwood and Kiley Goff to her inaugural coaching staff with the Blazers.
Veach will serve as associate head coach, while Greenwood and Goff join the program as assistant coaches.
"I could not be more excited about the staff we have put together at UAB," Curry said. "Hunter, Ryan and Kiley each bring something different to our program, but they all share a passion for developing student-athletes and building a championship culture. They are tremendous teachers, recruiters and people, and I know they will make an immediate impact on our program."
HUNTER VEACH – ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH
Veach returns to Birmingham after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Texas Tech, helping guide the Red Raiders to consecutive appearances in the Women's College World Series championship series in 2025 and 2026.
Working primarily with the Red Raiders' defense, Veach was part of a Texas Tech program that compiled a 115-24 record over his two seasons in Lubbock.
Veach arrived at Texas Tech following the 2024 season at Louisiana, where he served as the Ragin' Cajuns' primary defensive coach. Under his direction, Louisiana turned an NCAA-leading 46 double plays after recording 42 combined over the previous three seasons. The Ragin' Cajuns also improved their conference fielding percentage from .968 in 2023 to .983 in 2024.
Prior to Louisiana, Veach served as Texas A&M's director of player development during the 2023 season.
The Selma, Alabama, native is no stranger to UAB, having previously spent two seasons with the Blazers from 2021-22. Veach joined the program as a volunteer assistant in October 2020 before being promoted to assistant coach in August 2021. During his first season in Birmingham, UAB won 31 games and advanced to the Conference USA Championship Game. The Blazers posted their highest winning percentage since 2015 during Veach's tenure while recording the second-best conference winning percentage in program history at the time.
UAB's defense ranked among the nation's best in 2022, finishing fifth nationally with 0.55 double plays per game while turning 28 double plays.
Veach's résumé also includes stops at Auburn and Auburn Montgomery as well as extensive professional and international experience. He was part of Auburn's staff when the Tigers finished as the national runner-up at the 2016 Women's College World Series and later helped Auburn reach an NCAA Super Regional in 2017.
At Auburn Montgomery, Veach helped the Warhawks capture consecutive NAIA national championships in 2014 and 2015. He later served as an assistant coach with the Cleveland Comets of National Pro Fastpitch and as head coach of the Beijing Shougang Eagles. Veach has also worked with the Chinese women's national team and in Women's Professional Fastpitch.
"Hunter has coached and won at the highest levels of our sport, and having someone with his experience on our staff is invaluable," Curry said. "He understands what it takes to build a championship program, and just as importantly, he already understands UAB and Birmingham. We are thrilled to welcome him back home."
Veach earned his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Auburn in 2017.
RYAN GREENWOOD – ASSISTANT COACH
Greenwood reunites with Curry after serving as Samford's director of player development during the 2026 season.
A longtime fixture in elite travel softball, Greenwood brings more than 20 years of experience developing and recruiting players. He has helped more than 100 student-athletes advance to NCAA Division I programs across the country, with former players earning All-America and all-conference recognition.
Prior to joining Curry's staff at Samford, Greenwood served as the 18U national head coach and recruiting coordinator for Fusion Softball from 2020-25 and was the organization's national director from 2024-25.
He also served as an assistant coach and player development coach at Assumption High School in Louisville, Kentucky, from 2023-25. Greenwood helped Assumption capture the 2025 KHSAA state championship, the first state title in program history, after advancing to the state semifinals the previous season.
Greenwood previously spent more than a decade with the Birmingham Thunderbolts, serving as a premier head coach and recruiting coordinator from 2009-20. His teams competed in some of the nation's premier travel softball events, including PGF Nationals and Triple Crown tournaments.
He has also served as an instructor at LSU softball camps.
Following the 2026 season at Samford, Greenwood joined the Austin Peay staff as an assistant coach in June before returning to Birmingham to join Curry at UAB.
"Ryan has spent decades evaluating, teaching and developing softball players, and the relationships he has built throughout the sport are incredibly valuable," Curry said. "I saw firsthand at Samford the impact he can have on student-athletes. He cares deeply about their development, understands the recruiting landscape and has tremendous connections throughout our region and across the country."
Greenwood earned his bachelor's degree in computer information systems and marketing from Jacksonville State in 1993.
KILEY GOFF – ASSISTANT COACH
Goff joins the Blazers after most recently serving as the head coach at Union Commonwealth University following a decorated collegiate playing career and the beginning of her coaching career at Indiana State.
Goff entered the coaching ranks as an assistant coach at Indiana State in 2024 after completing her playing career at Louisville. She worked with the Sycamores during the 2025 season before taking over the Union Commonwealth program.
A native of West Lafayette, Indiana, Goff played collegiately at Purdue, Maryland and Louisville, bringing extensive experience as both a catcher and utility player.
She began her career at Purdue in 2021 and made an immediate impact, appearing in all 44 games and making 40 starts as a freshman. Goff finished second on the team with 20 runs and 33 hits while seeing action at catcher, second base and third base.
Goff then transferred to Maryland, where she became the Terrapins' starting catcher and served as a team captain. She earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors during the 2022 season and started all 54 games as a junior in 2023. Goff led the Big Ten with 13 runners caught stealing that season while pacing Maryland with 42 runs scored.
Over her two seasons with the Terrapins, Goff scored 67 runs, stole 31 bases and threw out 24 runners attempting to steal.
She concluded her collegiate career at Louisville in 2024, starting all 52 games for the Cardinals. Goff earned her degree in liberal studies with a minor in biology.
Her coaching background also includes youth travel baseball, private softball instruction and work with camps at Purdue, Maryland and Louisville.
"Kiley is one of the bright young coaches in our game," Curry said. "She brings a tremendous amount of energy and has an outstanding understanding of the game from her experience as a catcher and leader at the Division I level. She has already gained valuable experience as both an assistant and a head coach, and I am excited about what she will bring to our student-athletes every day."
Goff comes from a coaching family. Her father, Greg Goff, is the head baseball coach at Purdue and previously served as the head coach at Alabama, Louisiana Tech, Campbell and Montevallo.
