- UAB hits the road again, after another home loss at the hands of North Texas 62-58.
- Charlotte also dropped a close one to conference opponent FAU, losing 77-76 in overtime. The 49ers are currently tied for 4th place in the American Conference standings with UAB at 9-7.
- UAB leads the series 35-20, winning three of the last four. This will be the 56th all-time meeting between the two teams, tying Southern Miss at third most out of any school in UAB history.
- UAB won last year's matchup 96-78
- The campuses are separated by 400 miles.
- UAB ranks first in the conference in assists/turnover ratio and fastbreak points per game.
- UAB is 19th in the country in fast break points per game with 15.48.
- UAB is 17th in the country in rebounds per game grabbing 40.48. They are also 26th in both offensive rebounds per game (13.10) and 24th in defensive rebounds per game (27.38). They rank 4th and 2nd, respectively, in the conference in those categories.
- UAB takes care of the basketball with just 9.1 turnovers per game which is ranked 9th nationally and 2nd in the American Conference.
- Evan Chatman is 20th in defensive rebounds with 6.48 per game which is also first in the American Conference. Chatman ranks 32nd in total rebounds (263).
- Charlotte is 26th nationally and second in the conference in bench points per game, with an average of 30.55 per contest
- As a team, the 49ers are top five in the conference in FG % (46.1, 3rd) and three-point % (35.2, 3rd).
- Anton Bonke is the 49ers big man, leading the team in all three rebounding categories and sitting in the top five in the conference in each.
- Andy Kennedy has a 5-2 record against Charlotte (1-0 at Cincinnati, 4-2 at UAB)
- UAB is looking to be the second team to go unbeaten on the road in the American Conference and can accomplish that with a win at Charlotte. Houston achieved it in 2022-23.
- Additionally, a win would be the 10th of the season and in a row, tying the program record (set in 2015-16) for most road wins in a season, and continuing to break the record for consecutive road wins (set this year, currently 9).
- Coach Kennedy has won 12+ conference games the past two seasons at UAB. He has an overall American Conference record of 34-18 in his third season in the conference.
- Evan Chatman has scored in double figures in each of the last three road games, including a season-high of 22 in the last road game against Memphis.
- Chatman has also posted double-digit rebounds in five of the last seven games (four home, three away).
- Chance Westry has scored double figures in each of the last three games, including two 20+ point games on the road.
