Baseball Fights Back but Falls 11-8

Logan Braunshweig singled to give UAB their first hit, but he then got out on a double play. Brooks House made his 6th start of the year, all coming in the midweek. He also made his 15th appearance totaling a 1-3 record with a 8.16 ERA. House started out winning a 12 pitch at bat. A triple to center field and then a throwing error allowed JSU to score on the next at bat. Colin Patterson came in relief making his 11th appearance.
Jacksonville State bats were on fire hitting the ball five times in two innings, and also scoring five runs. UAB also added two errors during those two innings. The Gamecocks continued to score in the 3rd inning when Sam Silas drove in another run. The score was 8-0 after three innings.
UAB made six changes in the bottom of the 4th and got their first shutout inning of the game. UAB finally got on the board when Joe Watkins and Peyton Puckett grabbed a couple of singles. Reed Latimer then scores Watkins with an RBI groundout!! Braxton Brooks scores another on a single up the middle. Jacksonville State added another run in the bottom of the 6th. Logan Walters hit a sacrifice fly to center field. After six innings the score was 9-2 JSU.
A pinch hit single by Matthew Albritton scored two more runs in the 7th inning to give JSU an 11-2 lead. In the 8th inning, UAB scored six runs on just three hits. Tyler Waugh singled to right field to score the first run. An RBI walk by David Harris scored another. Jax Yoxthiemer and Mayes White also receive RBIs to make the score 11-6 JSU. Peyton Puckett stepped up and hit a two RBI single to score another two. UAB was now within just three runs after being down eight runs.

UAB will host Memphis in their last home series of the year.
