Baseball Travels to Jacksonville State for Last Away Midweek

JACKSONVILLE - The UAB baseball team is traveling to Jacksonville, Alabama to play Jacksonville State for the 2nd time in 14 days.
UAB is coming off of a series win at Florida Atlantic where they won games one and two. The Blazers are tied for 6th in a very tight American Athletic Conference. Charlotte sits in 3rd place with an 11-10 record while 10th place Memphis sits at 8-13. Just three games separates 3rd-10th place.
UAB ranks 58th in the nation in sacrifice bunts with 25 total. The Blazers also have three shutouts on the season. Blayze Berry is nationally ranked in two categories including ERA and strikeouts. He is ranked 52nd in strikeouts with 78. He is also ranked 20th in ERA with a 2.58 earned run average. Berry and Colin Daniel are ranked 28th in victories with seven wins. Darryl Buggs is ranked 12th in triples with five total.

Jacksonville State enters the Wednesday midweek game with a record of 16-29 and just 2-5 in their last eight games since we last saw them. The Gamecocks won two games last week, one coming in the midweek and the other in conference play. They first beat Georgia State Tuesday and then won one out of three at Dallas Baptist. The one common opponent between both teams is Kennesaw State. Brennen Norton leads the Gamecocks hitting .333 with 13 home runs and 39 RBIs. Austin Cornelius leads the pitching staff with a 6.04 ERA in 50.2 innings pitched.
On the mound, Brooks House (8.16) will make his 6th start and 17th appearance. House last made a start against South Alabama where he went three innings giving up three hits and four runs while striking out two. House has been one of the consistent midweek guys ever since Isaac Warrick got injured in week two.

Jacksonville State leads 21-28 with the last game coming two weeks ago. UAB won 14-8 in a high scoring affair. The two teams split the season series at 1-1, so this game will be the rubber match. UAB had won four straight games before the March 13 contest. JSU won eight straight games over the span of 2015-2020.
