Men's Basketball Takes on WKU in Charity Exhibition

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball will take on Western Kentucky on Sunday afternoon in a charity exhibition contest supporting the Boys and Girls Club of Bowling Green. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CT at E.A. Diddle Arena.

Proceeds from the game will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Bowling Green.

There will not be a broadcast for Sunday's game, but live stats will be available here.

SERIES HISTORY
The Blazers lead the all-time series 27-18 and won the last meeting between the two teams during the 2022-23 season. WKU holds a 10-8 advantage in games played in Bowling Green.

RETURNING TALENT
The UAB roster features large amount of returning production from last season's NCAA Tournament squad, including five players that started a game. The Blazers return 62.3% of its scoring from last season and 60.7% of its rebounding.

WELCOME TO THE 205
Andy Kennedy has built the UAB roster on transfers and JUCO stars over his time as a Blazer. UAB added six scholarship players to the roster this offseason, including three transfers, one JUCO signee and two from prep school. The Blazers' transfer class included three transfers that all averaged double figures at the Division I level, inclduing Tyren Moore (17.0 ppg, Georgia Southern), Greg Gordon (16.0 ppg, Iona), and Bradley Ezewiro (12.0 ppg, Saint Louis). The Blazers brought in another top JUCO prospect in Ja'Borri McGhee, who ranked as the No. 3 Junior College player in the nation. Makhi Myles and Reginald Kennedy Jr. are the two lone freshmen on the roster and each played one season at a prep school before coming to UAB.

YAX IS BACK
Yaxel Lendeborg had a dominant debut season at UAB. The forward led the Blazers with 13.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.1 blocks per game, earning American Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors. Lendeborg set UAB and American Conference records with 370 rebounds in a single season and also recorded a program record 19 double-doubles. He finished the season with five games of 20+ points and 15+ rebounds, second nationally only to National Player of the Year Zach Edey. His 72 blocks rank as the seventh most in a single season in UAB history. Lendeborg is one of only seven players in the country returning after averaging a double-double during the 2023-24 season.

JUCO DAWGS
UAB has embraced the JUCO ranks during Andy Kennedy's time in Birmingham and the 2024-25 roster features seven players that have played at a Junior College including Christian Coleman (South Plains), Greg Gordon (Dyersburg State), Marquis Hargrove (Arizona Western), Ja'Borri McGhee (Garden City/South Plains), Yaxel Lendeborg (Arizona Western), and Alejandro Vasquez (Salt Lake). JUCO players accounted for 41.7% of the Blazers' scoring last season and 48.4% of their rebounding.
