UAB Women’s Tennis Defeats North Alabama 4-1

FLORENCE, Ala. – After dropping the deciding doubles point in a breaker, UAB came back and took four consecutive singles points to earn their second victory of the season, 4-1 over North Alabama.
Enya Ratic and Vanessa Mellynchuk won their match on Court 2, 6-1. The deciding match came down to Adela Wasserbauerova and Annalisa Smith on Court 3. The Blazers took an early 2-1 lead, but the Lions came back to tie it at 2-2. The set would see four more ties before UNA won the breaker 7-4.
In singles, Mellynchuk coasted to an easy 6-2, 6-0 Court 6 victory. As did Smith on Court 4, 6-0, 6-3. Sydney Clarke put UAB ahead 3-1 on Court 3 after her 6-4, 7-5 win.
Wasserbauerova clinched the match in a 3-set victory 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 on Court 1.
The Blazers are 12-0 all-time against the Lions dating back to 1993.
