UAB Women’s Tennis Begins Three Match Roadtrip

BIRMINGHAM – After the successful home opener at the Hoover Met on Sunday, the UAB women's tennis team will play the next three matches on the road. Feb. 15 the Blazers visit crosstown rival Samford. UAB heads to Auburn to face Belmont in a neutral site match on Feb. 18 before facing the Tigers the following day.
UAB LATELY
The Blazers (3-3) are coming off a 4-1 victory over Georgia State on Feb. 12. Of the six matches, UAB has won four of the doubles points, including a victory over Mississippi State in the season opener.
SAMFORD LATELY
The Bulldogs (4-2) have won three straight coming into Wednesday's match.
UAB AND SAMFORD HISTORY
The two schools first met in 1992, a 9-0 victory for Samford. Since then, the teams have met 27 more times with UAB holding a 16-12 edge in the series. The Blazers have won four of the last five meetings over the Bulldogs. Samford leads 10-9 while hosting.
LAST TIME AGAINST SAMFORD
Maggie White's tiebreaker victory on Court 5 gave the UAB women's tennis team its first victory of the season, 4-3 over Samford on Feb. 2, 2022. The marathon match, which lasted 4:58, was the third straight victory for the Blazers over their crosstown rival.
