UAB Wins Fourth Straight After 7-0 Shutout Over UT Martin

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's tennis team led from the get-go in its 7-0 victory over UT Martin on Saturday afternoon. The Blazers (4-3) have won their last four matches.
In doubles, Maggie White and Sydney Clarke made short work of Sina Albersmeier and Jule Streif, 6-1 on Court 1. Adela Wasserbauerova and Enya Ratkic cliched the point on Court 3 over Mizuki Sakurai and Jilli Niedzialowski, 6-3.
Clarke need only 43 minutes to defeat Amelia Campbell 6-1, 6-0 on Court 3. Jana Hecking won her match on Court 1 over Streif 6-1, 7-5. The deciding match came on Court 2 when Wasserbauerova was a 6-0, 7-5 winner over Albersmeier.
The teams played the match out with Ratkic winning Court 5 - 6-1, 6-3 over Aziza Aubin, White winning on Court 4 over Lia Espinal 7-6, 6-2 and Annalisa Smith winning a breaker over Sakurai 6-2, 3-6, 10-3.
UAB closes out the month on the road with Jacksonville State (Feb. 19), Lipscomb (Feb. 20) and South Alabama (Feb. 26). The next home match is March 1 against North Alabama at George Ward Park.
