UAB Wins Extends Winning Streak to Six After Sweep of Jacksonville State, Lipscomb

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's tennis team have won six straight matches and improved to 6-3 on the season after a pair of road victories this weekend over Jacksonville State and Lipscomb.
UAB 5, Jacksonville State 2
The Blazers cruised through the doubles point with Vanessa Mellynchuk and Alexandra da Silva along with Adela Wasserbauerova and Enya Ratkic winning on Courts 2 and 3, respectively. Both matches were 6-2.
In singles, Maggie White's match on Court 5 ended early when her opponent retired in the 1st set. Mellynchuk put UAB up 3-0 after a 6-0, 6-1 win on Court 4. Ratkic got the clincher on Court 6, 6-3, 6-1. They played the match out with Sydney Clarke picking a 6-3, 6-4 win on Court 3.
UAB 5, Lipscomb 2
The Bisons jumped out in doubles, taking the match on Court 2. Wasserbauerova and Ratkic made the point level on Court 3, 6-3. Clarke and White got the point for the Blazers with a 7-6 win in a breaker.
White, Clarke and Annalisa Smith all were straight set winners for UAB in singles. White on Court 5, 6-1, 6-1. Clarke on Court 3, 6-0, 6-2. Smith on Court 6, 7-1, 7-6. Mellynchuk got the clincher on Court 4, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.
