UAB Defeats Middle Tennessee 4-1 on Senior Day

BIRMINGHAM - Although Friday's Senior Day match was delayed by almost three hours because of rain, the Blazers were able to keep their momentum rolling with a 4-1 victory against Middle Tennessee at George Ward Park.
UAB (13-6, 3-1 C-USA) has won five straight and 11 of its last 12 matches. MT (10-11, 2-5 C-USA) has dropped its last two matches.
The match, originally set to start at 3 p.m. began shortly before 6 p.m. Only singles matches were played.
Dominika Hrabalova was the only Blazer to win in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1 on Court 3.
Jana Hecking, Sydney Clarke and Annalisa Smith all battled back after dropping their first set on Courts 1, 4 and 6.
Hecking came away with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 win. Clarke was a 0-6, 6-2, 6-4 winner and Smith got UAB the clincher 1-6, 6-2, 6-0.
Megan Bertrands split her first two sets and was leading 2-1 in the third set when the match was decided.
This match concludes the regular season. Up next is the 2021 Conference USA Championship which begins April 22 in Denton, Texas.
