BIRMINGHAM – The UAB baseball team makes the trek to Starkville, Miss. for a midweek matchup with No. 2 Mississippi State. First pitch between the Blazers and Bulldogs is set for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Dudy Noble Field.

UAB (12-23, 5-11 C-USA) vs. MISSISSIPPI STATE (27-8, 10-5 SEC)
Mississippi State holds the all-time record against UAB, 34-10. The last meeting came in 2019 in Starkville, where the Bulldogs came away with the 3-2 win. The last win for UAB came in 2011 at Young Memorial Field.

UAB LATELY
The Blazers are coming off a series split with Conference USA opponent Florida Atlantic. Ian Ladner hit the game winning walk-off in the 10th inning to secure the 7-6 victory. The four-game series saw two one-run games and two two-run games.

Freshman Chandler Simpson leads the team with a .340 batting average. He is also ranked as one of the toughest to strikeout in the country, with only five on the season.

MISSISSIPPI STATE LATELY
The Bulldogs are coming off a series win over No. 6 Ole Miss at Dudy Noble Field. Landon Sims was named as the Southeastern Conference Newcomer of the Week after a pair of saves. Sims ranks second in the SEC with five saves in 11 appearances.

Tanner Allen leads Mississippi State with a .336 batting average, 42 hits and 37 RBIs.

RECORD WATCH
Jess Davis has 70 career stolen bases. He sits seventh in program history and needs two more steals to move into a tie for sixth with Mitch Jones (2000-03).
