Baseball Falls at No. 2 Mississippi State, 19-7

J Paul Fullerton led UAB at the dish, going 2-for-2 with four RBIs. The last time a Blazer had at least four RBIs in a contest was March 1, 2020 when Ian Ladner did so against Miami (Ohio).
Carson Knight (2-4) took the loss for the Blazers, while Mississippi State starter Mikey Tepper worked one inning and was credited with his second win of the season.
Mississippi State (27-8) got on the board early, scoring four runs in the first inning. Logan Tanner sent a three-run home run over the center field wall with one out.
UAB (12-24) answered in the top of the second. With bases loaded and one out, Joseph Kiel drew a bases loaded walk for the first run of the game for the Green and Gold. Jess Davis hit a one-out single to bring in Ladner and Fullerton, cutting the Bulldog lead to one, 4-3.
The Bulldogs responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. They also tacked on insurance runs in the third and fourth for a 10-3 advantage.
Fullerton's first home run of the season was a three-run shot over the right field wall in the fifth inning that cut the Bulldog lead to 10-6.
Mississippi State posted a quintet in the bottom of the fifth on five hits to extend its advantage to 15-6 before UAB notched a run in the top of the seventh on a J Paul Fullerton sac fly that scored Colton Schultz.
The Bulldogs scored their final four runs of the contest in the bottom of the eighth with four more, including a two-run shot with one away
