Women’s Tennis Continues Winning Streak with 4-3 Victory over Tulane

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's tennis team won its fifth straight match after defeating Tulane 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at George Ward Park.
UAB (7-5, 0-0 C-USA) won on doubles court one as Adela Wasserbauerova and Dominika Hrabalova defeated Mackenzie Clark and M.C. Meredith, 6-2. The Green Wave claimed the doubles point on courts two and three as Adelaide Lavery and Kristen Borland topped Jana Hecking and Sydney Clarke, 6-2. Lahari Yelamanchili and Charlotte Russell bested Annalisa Smith and Megan Bertrands, 6-3.
In singles play, UAB won on courts three, four, five and six en route to the 4-3 victory. On court three, Hrabalova beat Lavery, 7-5, 7-6, while Clarke saw a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Borland on court four.
Smith defeated Cora Barber, 6-4, 6-4 on court six and Bertrands claimed a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win over Yelamanchili on court five and to clinch the Blazer victory.
Tulane's two singles wins came on courts one and two as Meredith topped Hecking, 6-1, 7-6 and Clark overcame Wasserbauerova, 6-3, 7-5, respectively.
This is UAB's second consecutive victory over Tulane. Last season, the Blazers defeated the Green Wave for the first time in almost 20 years.
UAB returns to George Ward Park on Thursday as the Green and Gold takes on UT-Martin with first serve scheduled for noon.
