Blazer Women’s Tennis Defeats UT-Martin for Sixth Consecutive Win

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB women's tennis team earned its sixth straight win on Thursday afternoon at George Ward Park as the Blazers topped UT-Martin 6-1.
UAB claimed the doubles point with victories by Adela Wasserbauerova/Dominika Hrabalova over Amelia Campbell/Jule Streif (6-4 on court one) and Sydney Clarke/Jana Hecking over Aziza Aubin/Ariadna Ondo (6-1 on court two).
Going into singles play up 1-0, the Green and Gold won on every court except court one. In the No. 2 position, Wasserbauerova topped Streif, 6-1, 6-0, while Clarke overcame Aubin on court three, 6-3, 7-5.
Megan Bertrands was victorious on court four, as she defeated Sina Albersmeier, 6-4, 6-4. UAB notched its fifth and sixth points of the match on courts five and six, as Annalisa Smith knocked off Mizuki Sakurai, 7-5, 6-1, and Alexandra da Silva beat Ondo, 6-1, 6-2, respectively.
UAB moves to 8-5 on the year and will open the Conference USA schedule on March 19 in Hattiesburg at Southern Miss (4-2, 1-1 C-USA).
