UAB Softball Travels to North Texas to Open C-USA Play

BIRMINGHAM – UAB hits the road for Denton, Texas for a four-game series with North Texas to open Conference USA play, its first conference series in 698 days. The Blazers' last C-USA series was at Charlotte on May 5, 2019.
UAB will play two double headers, the first on April 2 starting at 3 p.m., and the second on April 3 starting at 12 p.m.
LAST TIMEOUT
The last time the Blazers (13-13, 0-0 C-USA) took the field was on March 20-21 on the road at WKU.
The Hilltoppers swept the three-game series. WKU batted .449 on the weekend, while UAB hit .299.
Sierra Frazier and Faith Hegh both had a productive series at the plate, batting .600 and .556, respectively, while Jenna Olszewski had a team-high three RBIs and hit the only Blazer homerun.
UAB's three-game series with Charlotte scheduled for this past weekend, March 27-28, and the Blazers' midweek tilt with Troy were both postponed for later in the season.
SCOUTING NORTH TEXAS
UAB holds the 11-7 all-time record over the Mean Green (14-7, 0-0 C-USA), but North Texas has won the last three matchups.
Offensively the team is led by outfielder Tuesday DerMargosian who has played in 17 games and made 16 starts this season. The graduate transfer from Texas is batting a team-high .326, with an on base percentage of .734.
Molly Rainey is the Mean Green's RBI leader, tallying 16 this season.
In the circle, Hope Trautwein (4-3) has pitched a team-high 46 innings, striking out 84 batters.
North Texas is coming off a 11-2 win over Abilene Christian on Mar. 30, the most runs the Mean Green have scored in a game this season.
