Women’s Tennis to Participate in ITA Southern Regionals

BIRMINGHAM – Coming off two successful fall tournaments, the UAB women's tennis team will travel to Tuscaloosa for the ITA Southern Regionals.
In addition to the Blazers, the 18-team field includes Alabama, Alcorn State, Auburn, Jacksonville State, Louisiana Lafayette, Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Tech, LSU, McNeese State, Mississippi State, Northwestern State, Ole Miss, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy and Tulane.
The six-day event begins Thursday with the qualifying Singles Round. Main Draw Doubles starts on Friday.
UAB is coming off a success weekend at the Samford Round Robin 2, where it went 18-7 overall in singles and 7-6 in doubles. Alexandra da Silva, Vanessa Mellynchuk, Adela Wasserbauerova and Mackenzie White were all 3-0 in singles.
The draws have yet to be announced but will be posted here.
Live scoring will begin in the Round of 16 for both doubles and singles. Video will be provided beginning in the quarterfinals. Live results will be updated throughout the tournament and as the results come in.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Thursday: 9 a.m. – Qualifying Singles Rounds
Friday: 8 a.m. – Qualifying Round of 16 Singles– eight people will advance to the main draw
Main Draw Doubles and Singles Round of 64
Saturday: 9 a.m. – Doubles Round of 32/ Doubles Round of 16/ Singles Round of 32
Sunday: 9 a.m. – Singles Round of 16 / Singles Quarterfinals /Doubles Quarterfinals
Monday: 9 a.m. – Singles and Doubles Semifinal
