UAB Women’s Tennis Falls to Alabama in Season Opener

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The UAB women's tennis team dropped its opening contest of the spring season with a 7-0 defeat at Alabama on Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
The Crimson Tide earned the double point with 6-0 victories on courts one and three, while court two was left unfinished with the point already decided.
In singles, UAB's Alexandra Shchipakina on court two and Sophie Dodds on court three gave their opponents all they could handle, but both eventually fell 6-4, 6-4. The Tide also won all the other courts in straight sets for the 7-0 victory.
The Blazers return to action this coming weekend with matches at Lipscomb on Saturday, Jan. 26 and at Tennessee State on Sunday, Jan. 27.
