Blazers Welcome Reigning Big Ten Champion for Three-Game Series

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB baseball team returns to the diamond this weekend when it welcomes the 2017 Big Ten Champion Iowa Hawkeyes for a three-game series at Regions Field. Game one is set for Friday at 4 p.m., game two is Saturday at 1 p.m. and the final game of the series is slated for Sunday at 12 p.m.

Series History
This weekend marks the first meeting between the two schools. Iowa joins Bowling Green as the only two teams on UAB's schedule this season that it has no prior history with.
Tickets to this weekend can be purchased online on UABSports.com or at the Regions Field ticket office. Fans are also encouraged to purchase a Gold Card which grants access into all UAB baseball and softball for an entire season. Contact the UAB Ticket Office (205 934-UAB1) for more information.
On Sunday the Blazers will honor UAB women's basketball head coach Randy Norton who was a pitcher for the Hawkeyes from 1979-1982. Norton will be joined on the field with his women's basketball team before he throws out the first pitch.

- UAB (4-3) is in the midst of a two-game losing skid as it dropped both of its mid-week games this week to Jacksonville State (4-2) on Tuesday and at Troy (3-2) on Wednesday

- The Blazers have called Regions Field home since 2014 and hold a 49-23 record inside the friendly confines of the minor league park
Scouting Iowa
- Iowa (6-1) is off to its best start since starting 10-1 in 2015
- The Hawkeyes rank in the top four in the Big Ten in both hitting and pitching through seven games. Iowa has the third-best team ERA (2.86) and is fourth with a .279 team batting average
- Sophomore Kyle Crowl leads the Big 10 in runs scored with 11, while junior Nick Allgeyer ranks in the top three in ERA (0.75) and strikeouts (15)
