BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's tennis team will make the short trip to Tuscaloosa, Ala. this weekend to take part in the Roberta Alison Fall Invitational.
The tournament, hosted by the University of Alabama, will feature teams from across the nation.
"There are teams from all over the country flying in to play this event so we are very grateful to be able to drive down the highway to get the chance to compete with national powerhouses as well as the tough regional programs," UAB head coach Mark Tjia said. "The fact we are only bringing 3 girls this weekend will not hinder our ability to gain experience which will improve and benefit our whole team."
The Blazers are coming off a performance at the ITA Southern Regional in Oxford, Miss. in which senior Sophie Dodds claimed a victory.
UAB has impressed this fall, notching 52 singles and doubles wins in five events. The Green and Gold is set to compete in one more event, the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic in Bradenton, Fla., before the calendar flips to 2019.
