Blazer Basketball Celebrates Season at Awards Banquet

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB men's basketball team put the finishing touches on a memorable season with its end of the year awards banquet on Monday night from Regions Field.
Head coach Rob Ehsan and his staff honored the 2015-16 Blazers and highlighted the team's accomplishments in a season that saw UAB set school records for overall wins (26), Conference USA wins (16), road wins (10) and consecutive wins (14).
The Blazers also captured the program's first Conference USA regular season championships since 2011. Hosted by David Crane, the event recognized the individual accomplishments of the 13 members of the 2015-16 UAB men's basketball team.
Ehsan and the UAB coaching staff handed out five individual awards, which included the Elijah Serritt Unsung Hero Award, the Academic Achievement Award, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player and Most Valuable Player. The staff also honored the 2016 All-Conference USA award winners.

Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year -- William Lee
Conference USA Sixth Man of the Year -- Dirk Williams
Conference USA Coach of the Year -- Jerod Haase
