BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB men's basketball team continues Conference USA play Thursday at 7 p.m. when the Blazers welcome UTSA to Bartow Arena.

UAB (11-3, 1-0) won its eighth game in a row on Sunday after defeating Middle Tennessee, 78-67, in the Conference USA opener. The victory was also the 17th straight at home and the fourth consecutive over the Blue Raiders.
Sophomore guard Nick Norton scored 14 points and added seven assists to lead four Blazers in double figures. Norton enters play on Thursday second in the NCAA with a 5.8 assist/turnover ratio. As a team, UAB is 24th in the nation with a 1.5 assist/turnover ratio.
Robert Brown poured in 14 points against Middle Tennessee for his fourth straight game in double figures. Brown is averaging 17.8 points and is shooting 59.1 percent from three-point range during that stretch.
William Lee added 10 points, six rebounds and one blocked shot and stands eighth in the country with 3.0 rejections per game. Lee's 42 blocked shots have helped UAB amass a total of 89 to rank sixth in the NCAA with 6.4 per game.
Sophomore forward Chris Cokley leads UAB in scoring with 15.2 points per game and rebounding with 7.1 boards per game.
UTSA (3-12, 1-1) snapped a three-game losing streak Sunday with an 85-80 home victory over Rice. The Roadrunners begin play Thursday with a 1-5 record on the road and have lost all five by at least 12 points.
Senior guard Ryan Bowie leads UTSA with 18.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Christian Wilson (13.0 ppg) and junior guard J.R. Harris (11.0) also score in double figures for the Roadrunners.
UAB is 2-0 all-time against UTSA after claiming a 65-57 victory last season at the UTSA Convocation Center.
The Conference USA Men's and Women's Basketball Championships are set to return to Birmingham for the second consecutive year, marking the third time the Blazers will host the event. The men's tournament, as well as the women's semifinals and championship, will be played at Legacy Arena in downtown Birmingham, while the women's first round and quarterfinal action will take place at UAB's Bartow Arena.
