UAB Loses To Defending National Champion Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - The UAB synchronized swimming team (1-1) lost at Stanford on Saturday, 90-69. Junior Margareta Jakovac highlighted the Blazers' performance as she finished second in the solo competition with a score of 87.833.
Freshman Talia Scatliff placed third in the solo event with a score of 85.667.
In the trio competition, junior Meryl Grandia and freshmen Shaina Boe and Brittany McCauley finished third with a score of 83.833, while freshmen Mikayla Cansler, Michele Rushfeldt and Jami Schwendau were fourth with a mark of 82.500.
In the duet event, Grandia and Jakovac placed third with a score of 87.167. Senior Frances Halloran and Boe took fourth place with a score of 84.333.
The Blazers took second in the team event as Boe, freshman Stephanie Cardwell, Grandia, Halloran, Jakovac, freshman Cecilia Luch, McCauley and Rushfeldt teamed to post a score of 88.667.
The Blazers will next be in action on Saturday when they host Arizona at 5:00 p.m. inside the Bell Aquatics Center.
