Blazers Fall Short Against Incarnate Word

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB synchronized swimming team lost to Incarnate Word, 82-72, despite capturing first place in the team, trio and duet competitons.
"I'm surprised on how well we did," UAB synchronized swimming head coach Lisa Riddell said. "I'm very pleased with how we performed and competed against some tough competition."
The Blazers came in first in the team competiton with a score of 91.750.
Brittany McCauley, Meryl Grandia and Margareta Jakovac placed first in the trio competition with a score of 90.000 and Georgia Luch, Michele Rushfeldt and Jami Schwendau claimed third with a score of 86.000.
Grandia and Jakovac also claimed first in the duet competition, scoring 91.250. McCauley and Stephanie Cardwell scored 88.250 which was good enough for third place.
The Blazers return to the pool Feb. 28 as they compete at the South Collegiate Regionals in San Antonio, Texas.
