Blazers Clinch Berth In Conference USA Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - With Wednesday night's 64-62 road victory over Saint Louis, UAB's men's basketball team clinched a berth in the 2005 Kelly Tires Conference USA Men's Basketball Tournament. The victory put UAB at 7-6 in the league and puts the Blazers in a position to improve their position int he final standings heading to the tournament in Memphis, Tenn. The postseason tournament welcomes the top 12 finishers in the regular season race. So far, Louisville, Charlotte, DePaul, Memphis, Cincinnati, Houston, TCU and Marquette have also clinched trips to the tournament.
The 2005 Kelly Tires Conference USA Men's Basketball Tournament will take place Wednesday through Saturday, March 9-12, at the FedExForum in Memphis. All-session booklets The tournament booklet is available at the UAB ticket office in Bartow Arena or by calling (205) 975-UAB1. The cost of a single booklet is $160 which covers admission to all 11 tournament games, including the Conference USA championship game which is slated for 10:45 a.m. CT, Saturday, March 12. The vouchers guarantee UAB fans priority seating during sessions in which UAB plays.
The FedExForum is the newly-opened home of the Memphis Grizzlies. The University of Memphis, which also plays in the facility, will serve as host for the event.
