Chance Westry Honored for Breakout season

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - Chance Westry was named to the American Conference Second Team and the All-Newcomer Team for his performance throughout the 2025-26 season.
The transfer from Syracuse helped UAB to its 6th straight 20+ win season finishing 20-11 (11-7 American) and earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament.
Westry earned player of the week twice this year on Feb. 23 and March 9. During those two weeks, Westry averaged 22.3 points, nine assists, and 4.8 rebounds to help UAB to a 4-0 record.
He set a season high of 31 points against Cleveland State this year and had 11 assists twice this year. He is averaging 15.7 points, 5.3 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game so far this season.
UAB is back in the conference tournament as a No. 4 seed on Friday at 12:00 p.m. when they face (5) Charlotte vs. (8) Memphis / (9) Tulane in Legacy Arena.

In January 2026, UAB Athletics made men's basketball season tickets available leading into the Bartow Arena renovations. The pricing and allocation details are included here along with a timeline of important dates to know prior to the 2026-27 basketball season. Fans will select their specific ticket locations during the UAB Basketball priority seating and parking selection process which begins in July of 2026 following a June 30, 2026, basketball priority seat deadline.
