Blazers Win Stanford Tri-Meet

STANFORD, Calif. - The third-ranked UAB synchronized swimming team upset second-ranked Stanford University to win the Stanford Tri-Meet, posting an overall score of 96. Stanford recorded an overall score of 78 to place second and the University of Arizona was third with a score of 43.5.
The UAB team of Amanda Haeuser, Stacey Jackson, Stephanie Jackson, Megan Kelly, Stacy Leiker, Kara Morgan, Sara Petrov and Hallie Todd placed first in the team event, scoring a 92.167.
Todd took the top spot for the Blazers in the B figures with a score of 73.939. She later teamed with Haeuser and Morgan for a second place finish in the trio event, posting a score of 85.167.
Petrov placed second in the solo event, scoring an 89.500 and then teamed with Haueser for a second place finish in the duet event with a score of 87.333.
"We are so excited about winning this meet," said UAB head coach Lisa Riddell. "I am so proud of our athletes. Defeating Stanford was a main goal of ours. I was surprised that we were able to do it so early in the season. We will see them two more times this season, so we will try to improve on today's performance. We are off to a good start."
UAB next competes at the University Incarnate Word in a dual meet Saturday.
