Blazers Top Florida In Dual Meet

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB synchronized swimming team defeated the University of Florida 92-74 in a dual meet hosted at Bell Aquatics Center on the UAB campus. The Blazers took the top two spots in three out of four routines in their season-opening meet.
"I thought for the first meet it went great," said UAB head coach Lisa Riddell. "We're off to a great start this year and I look forward to how the team will look in another month or so. I thought the team did a great job today. We have two weeks to finish polishing all the routines, so that we are ready to take on Ohio State."
Amanda Haeuser, Stacey Jackson, Stephanie Jackson, Megan Kelly, Stacy Leiker, Kara Morgan, Sara Petrov and Hallie Todd took the top spot in the team event for the Blazers, scoring an 89.500, while Anne Christensen, Andrea Dash, Vanessa Dash, Rebecca Johnson and Karen Meyer took second, scoring an 82.750.
Haeuser, Morgan and Petrov placed first in the trio event with a score of 85.000 and Leiker, Stacey Jackson and Stephanie Jackson took second, scoring an 84.334.
Haeuser teamed with Petrov to take the top spot in the duet event, scoring an 85.167, while Stacey and Stephanie Jackson grabbed a second place finish with a score of 83.166.
Katie Rozofsky from the University of Florida won the solo event with a score of 79.167.
UAB next travels to Columbus, Ohio to face defending national champion Ohio State Feb. 7.
