UAB Softball Tops South Florida 1-0

TAMPA, Fla. - Right fielder Cliffanie Engram doubled to right center, allowing catcher Amanda Ellis to score in the top of the sixth inning and lift UAB (19-21, 3-3 Conference USA) to a 1-0 victory over South Florida (29-20, 3-3 C-USA) in Conference USA softball action at the USF Softball Complex. With the win, UAB took the overall series winning two of three games.
Kerri Foster (9-9) threw a complete game shutout for the Blazers, her second of the year. Foster allowed one hit, walked two and struck out six. Cindy Turek (4-2) pitched six innings for South Florida and picked up the loss. She allowed on run on one hit, walked two and struck out five.
UAB lost the first game of the doubleheader Saturday 1-0 and took the second contest 1-0.
UAB returns home to George Ward Park Tuesday to face fourth-ranked Alabama at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
