Blazers Take Second At Ohio State Tri-Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio... Sophomore Sarah Pikal scored a 70.451 and grabbed a first place finish in the junior figures for the UAB synchronized swimming team at the Ohio State Tri-Meet in Columbus, Ohio. The Blazers finished second overall (77), defending national champion Ohio State took first place (102) and Keuka finished third (66.5).
Sophomore Bogdana Zareva finished third in the solo competition (90.400) and freshman Kara Morgan took fourth (86.00).
In the duet routines, sophomore Luna Aguilu and junior Rossitza Loukanova finished third (86.467) and Zareva and freshman Jessica Brown were fourth (81.600).
The trio routines saw Aguilu, Loukanova and freshman Kara Morgan place fourth (84.2) and Brown, junior Kristen Kramer and freshman Stacy Leiker finish fifth (82.867).
"We're happy with the performance in our first meet," said head coach Amy O'Donnell. "We had some rough swims, but with a lot of newcomers competing for the first time we're happy with the result. We received a lot of positive comments from the judges. We're extremely excited about the potential of this team."
The Blazers next travel to Newport News, Va. Jan. 27 for the William & Mary Invitational.
