Caroline Clarke enters her second season as an assistant coach and first under new head coach Erica Demers.
In her first season at UAB, Clarke helped the Blazers double their win total from the previous season while increasing point production by 23 percent. Clarke also played an instrumental role in the development of keeper Kelsey Daugherty. Under Clarke's tutelage, Daugherty helped UAB collect three shutouts and surrender 13 fewer goals than in the previous season.
Clarke arrived in Birmingham in 2016 after serving two seasons as an assistant coach of the women's soccer team at the University of Montevallo.
Clarke is a 2011 graduate of Appalachian State University. While at Appalachian State, Clarke was a standout goalkeeper.
She holds the school record for season shutouts and ranks second in career shutouts, third in season saves, and third in career saves. She earned a spot on the All-Southern Conference Team in 2010; she was also a finalist for Southern Conference Player of the Year that season.
Aside from her playing career, Clarke also interned in the Mountaineer Athletic Department in 2011.
Before Montevallo, Clarke was an assistant coach at Erskine College. At Erskine, Clarke worked directly with the goalkeepers and was in charge of fitness conditioning and recruiting.
Clarke has also been as assistant coach for the South Carolina Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program, Watauga High School, and the Lakeland Toros Soccer Club.
A member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Clarke has both her Level 1 and Level 2 goalkeeping diplomas.
