Cummings Dubbed American Conference Honorable Mention

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB Softball's Olivia Cummings was named an American Conference Honorable Mention for her two-win week that led the Blazers to a series sweep over East Carolina.
Cummings made two starts, both against East Carolina, totaling 10.0 innings of work. The Corner, Ala. native allowed just two runs for a 1.40 ERA on the week. Cummings walked just one of the 43 batters she faced in Greenville.
Getting the start in the series opener, Cummings went 6.0 innings on Friday night, allowing just one run while striking out two Pirates. Cummings needed just 65 pitches to get through six innings before Hannah Cole closed the win for the Blazers.
After the dominant start on Friday night, Cummings got the ball again on Sunday, going four innings, allowing just four hits and one run. Cummings struck out another two Pirates while earning her second win of the weekend.
Cummings and the Blazers return home to Mary Bowers Field on Tuesday, March 31, to host Samford at 5 p.m., then quickly turn back to American play, hosting Memphis from Thursday through Saturday.
