SCOUTING THE GREEN WAVE
Tulane comes to Birmingham winners of five of its last six which includes a conference series win last weekend against Memphis. The Green Wave are tops in the American Conference in walks drawn (156), led by Tanner Chun's 27, and doubles (60), led by Jason Wachs' 10. Additionally, Tulane ranks third in the league in hit by pitches (44), hits allowed per nine innings (8.67), and stolen bases (42). Wachs earned American Conference Honorable Mention honors last week after batting .400 (6-for-15) with two doubles, one triple, one home run, seven walks, eight runs scored, and four RBI.
THINGS TO KNOW
- The two teams have split each of the last six games since the schools have been American Conference opponents. UAB took two of three at home in 2024, while Tulane won the series last year in New Orleans.
- UAB comes into the series averaging 9.56 runs per game at home including 40 home runs. The Green and Gold have scored at least 10 runs in eight games at home and are 8-0 in those games.
- UAB's 44 home runs lead the American Conference and also rank tied for 16th in the nation in that category.
- The Blazers are 12-4 at home this season, including wins in nine of their last 10 games at Young Memorial Field.
- Baylor Roberts rides a 15-game on-base streak into the weekend. In that stretch, Roberts has 18 hits, 13 RBI, and 10 runs scored.
- RHP Mason Steele is slated to start on Friday night for UAB. Steele has gone at least 6.0 innings in each of his last three starts.
