Women’s Tennis Opens the Season at No. 4 Auburn and Mississippi State

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's tennis will open the 2026 season on Friday, Jan. 16 at 3 p.m. at No. 4 Auburn. The Blazers will then travel to Mississippi State on Sunday, Jan. 18 at noon.
UAB returns five players from last season which includes Gresi Bajri, Kristyna Damaskova, Klara Kajabova, Maria Paz Ospina and Nera Tesankic. The Green and Gold added two freshmen to the roster, including Emma Ascanio and Antonia Ende. Julia Caffarena joins the squad as a sophomore after spending her freshman campaign at UNC Asheville.
The Blazers enter their 13th season under head coach Mark Tjia, who helped UAB to a 14-9 record last season.
