Blazers Travel to Tampa for AAC Play

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Softball team (9-11) heads to Tampa, Florida for the first conference game of the year against South Florida (16-6).
UAB finished the Crimson Classic with a 1-4 record winning game one against SIUE. The top of the lineup has been dominant as Bella Wiggins, Hannah Dorssett, Hope Tucker, and Lindsey Smith have been a force all year with an OB% above .443. Lindsey Smith has driven in 15 runs in the third or fourth spot in the lineup.
American Athletic Conference play starts this weekend with the South Florida Bulls. Last year the Blazers beat USF 2-1 in Birmingham. This year South Florida started 16-6 and had an RPI ranking of 45 playing 10 Power Four teams. South Florida is led by Ken Erikson in his 28th season with the USF Softball Program. South Florida leads the conference in double plays, on base %, sacrifice bunts, and RBIs per game.

SERIES HISTORY
UAB has won the last two games including the series win last year. USF won six straight from 2003-2005.
LAST MEETING
UAB beat South Florida 7-5 in their last meeting in Birmingham. UAB scored five first innings runs which was too big for USF to recover from. Olivia Cummings got the win white Carlie Wilkins went 1-2 with three RBIs.
