Softball Clinches Series Win over Tulsa

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Softball team (13-17, 3-5) grabbed their second conference win of the year against Tulsa (16-15, 4-4) by a final score of 2-1.

IN THE INNINGS
Game two of the series against Tulsa was a pitcher's duel that saw just three runs. Starting pitcher Tait Davidson allowed just five hits through six innings. Caroline McLendon came in during the sixth inning to get the win allowing just one hit.

Tulsa stranded two runners in the first inning, but Davidson got out of the inning. UAB had just two base runners through two innings. Tulsa left the bases loaded in the third inning.

Britt Bourgoyne made her third start of the year and got to third base in the fourth inning but was stranded there. In total there were 10 players left on base.
Tulsa then homered in the sixth inning for the first run of the game. That gave the Golden Hurricanes a 1-0 lead. UAB answered with a clutch RBI by Hannah Miles, which was her 21st of the year.

Tulsa hit the ball twice in the seventh inning, almost scoring a run. Russell singled to shortstop allowing Holcomb at second to go home, but UAB threw her out at home for the final out of the inning. Brantlee Wortham pinch hit for a single and made her way to third base. The big hit came from Hannah Dorsett who slapped a ball off the pitcher's glove to score a run and give the Blazers a series win. This is the first conference series win of the year and the Blazers have a chance to sweep tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
