Lendeborg Named American Conference, Lute Olson National Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM – UAB forward Yaxel Lendeborg led the Blazers to a pair of wins this week, earning himself American Conference and Lute Olson National Player of the Week Recognition.
Lendeborg averaged 25.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.0 blocks in UAB's wins over Tulsa and Charlotte this week while battling illness. He also extended his streak of games with at least five assists to seven while posting his 13th and 14th double-doubles of the season, which ranks fourth in the nation.
In UAB's win over Tulsa, the senior scored a career high 28 points, grabbed 14 boards and had six assists while shooting 10-for-16 from the field and 2-for-4 from three. He was also effective on the defensive end with four blocks and two steals.
While he was battling illness, Lendeborg was able to play against Charlotte after being unable to participate in practice and walkthroughs and he did not disappoint. Lendeborg scored 22 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out five assists to lead the Blazers to the win.
The senior forward leads the Blazers in scoring (17.6 ppg), rebounding (10.4 rpg), assists (4.4 apg), steals (1.5 spg), and blocks (1.7 bpg).
