Men’s Golf Opens Spring Slate in Charleston

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's golf team opens its spring schedule this Monday and Tuesday, February 3-4, in the Battle at Briar's Creek hosted by the College of Charleston.

The two-day tournament features 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Along with the Blazers and C of C, the field also includes Agusta, Campbell, Clemson, East Tennessee State, Elon, High Point, Maryland, NC State, UT Chattanooga, VCU, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

Senior Paul Bruce and sophomore Morgan Slaton lead UAB into action, while Trace Bracknell, Jonathan Ericsson and Bernhard Koster round out the top five. Will Stelt is set to compete as an individual.

Slaton is coming off a strong fall in which he led the Blazers in stroke average (71.8), while Bruce finished two tournaments under par which was highlighted by shooting rounds of 64 and 65. UAB enters the spring with an overall record of 27-24-4.
