Blazer Golf Finishes Runner Up in South Carolina

AIKEN, S.C. - Morgan Slaton's third-place individual effort led the way for the UAB Blazers men's golf team as they took home second place in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by USC Aiken.

It was Erik Olin who led the Blazers in the first round, shooting three under par to tie for fifth overall individually, as the Blazers finished the opening round in second place.

The second round proved to be more of a challenge, as the Blazers slid back to third overall. Morgan Slaton advanced up the rankings from a tie for 11th to a tie for sixth.

Slaton's momentum carried into the concluding round of the event, where an eagle on hole 14 helped advance him to his ultimate finishing position of third, while catapulting the Blazers back into the runner-up spot.

Erik Olin maintained a top-10 running, ultimately finishing tied for eighth. Alejandro Fierro finished the event tied for 14th with Patrick Delaney, and Alvaro Huidobro rounded out the Blazers' order tied for 27th.

The Blazers' next match will take place at the end of the month, as they will travel to the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala., hosted by South Alabama on March 30 and 31.
