10/20/2025 11:10:00 AM | Men's Basketball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In today's era of college athletics, UAB added 14 new players to the 2025-26 roster, returning only Joey Khan from last year.
The new roster is highlighted by transfers João Das Chagas, Evan Chatman, Daniel Rivera, and KyeRon Lindsay-Martin. Freshmen Lance Carr and Justin Holloway round out the new UAB frontcourt.
KyeRon Lindsay-Martin (No. 2, Forward, Sr.) – At 6′8″ and 222 pounds, Lindsay-Martin brings veteran experience and physicality to the frontcourt. His presence at the four spot should help UAB maintain toughness on the glass and in post defense. Lindsay-Martin has played at Georgia and Texas Tech, proving he has what it takes to compete at a high level. Averaged 6.6 points per game at Murray State last year playing in 32 total games last year.
João Das Chagas (No. 3, Center, Jr.) – Standing 6′10″ and 250 pounds, Das Chagas is the anchor up front and the tallest player on the team. Nicknamed "JV," he offers size, rim protection, and a potential matchup problem for opponents lacking size. He recorded a 25-point, 23-rebound game against Elgin last year and earned NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball All-Region 11 Honorable Mention.
Lance Carr (No. 6, Forward, Fr.) – A 6′7″, 210-pound freshman, Carr adds depth and versatility. One of the most athletic players on the team, he can bolster UAB's rebounding and make highlight-reel plays. Carr helped lead Kimball High School in Texas to a state championship run last year.
Evan Chatman (No. 15, Forward, Jr.) – A junior transfer from McLennan Community College in Harker Heights, Texas, Chatman stands 6′8″ and 220 pounds, adding size and scoring ability. He averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game in junior college last year.
Justin Holloway (No. 22, Forward, Fr.) – Standing 6′7″, "JT" adds length to the Blazers' lineup. He helped Alabama 6A high school Opelika to a 19-8 record during the 2024-25 season.
Daniel Rivera (No. 23, Forward, Sr.) – A late addition to the 2025-26 roster, Rivera stands 6′7″ and weighs 215 pounds. Last coached by Frank Martin at UMass, he brings a wealth of collegiate experience. Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Rivera has played at four schools, beginning at Odessa College (JUCO) in Texas. He scored 29 points against Fordham last year and averaged 11.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
