UAB MBB Signs Prep Guard RJ Kennedy

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball head coach Andy Kennedy announced the signing of prep guard Reginald Kennedy Jr. on Wednesday.
"We are excited to add RJ to Blazer Basketball." Kennedy said, "He's an explosive guard who competes every day on both sides of the ball. He led Middle Georgia Prep to over 40 wins last season with his ability as a dynamic playmaker! And, you can never go wrong adding another Kennedy to the UAB basketball family."
Kennedy spent the 2023-24 season at Middle Georgia Prep where he averaged 23.7 points, 4.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game. He finished the season as the all-time leading scorer in Middle Georgia history with 948 points while leading the Lions to a 42-6 record. The 6-2 guard shot 52 percent from the field and 42 percent from three.
During his senior year of high school at Fayette County (GA), Kennedy led the Tigers to a 26-6 record, a Regional Championship, and a 4A state runner up finish. He was named the MaxPreps Georgia 4A Player of the Year after averaging 23.6 points and 4.0 assists per game.
He joins Makhi Myles as the second true freshman on the 2024-25 roster and he is the sixth new addition to the Blazers' roster this offseason. Following an AAC Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament berth, UAB added three transfers in Greg Gordon, Tyren Moore and Brad Ezewiro while also signing JUCO guard JaBorri McGhee.
2024-25 SEASON TICKETS
Season tickets for the 2024-25 UAB men's basketball season are now available. Season ticket packages will feature all home games during the 2024-25 basketball season and provide the most cost-effective way to attend games at Bartow Arena. Fans may purchase new season tickets or request more information on season ticket options here. Season ticket renewal applications will be available in the coming month leading into the September 1, 2024 men's basketball priority seat deadline.
