Baseball Earns #5 Seed In American Athletic Conference Tournament

UAB is exceptionally well at scoring in the 1st inning. In fact, they have 50 1st inning runs compared to their 319 total runs. The Blazers scored two today with two RBI singles by Tyler Harrington and Tyler Waugh. Logan Braunschweig and Jake Smallwood scored on those two singles. With the Blazers having locked up a spot in the AAC Conference Tournament, The lineup looked a little different than the past two days. Jax Yoxtheimer started his 5th game of the year, and Austin Young started his 11th of the year.
Three more runs came in the second inning when Brayton Brown hit his 10th home run of the year. USF answered in the bottom of the inning when Stewart Puckett hit a double to score two runs. Seven total runs were scored through two innings.
South Florida added another run in the 3rd, before the Blazers put up a four spot in the 5th. Four hits and an error propelled UAB to that four run inning. Jake Smallwood started us off with a fielder's choice to score Brayton Brown. Tyler Harrington and Mayes White then hit back to back doubles to right center that drove in three more runs. UAB led 9-3 after five innings. In the 6th inning, UAB loaded the bases with no outs, but only scored one run on an RBI walk by Tyler Waugh.
South Florida added their forth run of the game in the 7th. John Montes hit a single up the middle to make the score 10-4 Blazers. South Florida made one more push in the 9th inning but ultimately came up short. They scored three runs on a couple of sacrifice flies and a single. The score ended at 10-7.
