Baseball Fights Back, but Drops Game Two in Tampa

Blazing fast start to this game as both teams scored one run in the first inning. UAB scored first on a sacrifice fly by Nick Hollfield that scored Darryl Buggs. Buggs walked and then Logan Braunschweig hit a bunt single to put Buggs on 3rd base. USF grabbed a run after a couple of walks and then a Marcus Brodil double.
After a clean 2nd inning, South Florida scored six 3rd inning runs. USF started off with two singles then a double by Joaquin Monque to score two runs. An error allowed the inning to continue, scoring four more runs. The score was 7-1 Bulls after three innings.
Chase Ingram came in and accumulated a lot of outs. He ended up pitching three innings giving up just four hits and one run, while striking out four batters. The one run he gave up was a solo home run in the 6th inning. That made the score 8-1 Bulls.
The Blazers were able to counter that with two runs of their own in the 7th. Austin Young stepped up and hit a two run home run to left field. The Blazers also scored in the 8th when Jake Smallwood helped get the Blazers to within four runs, after his double down the left field line to score Brayton Brown. Brown got on base with a double himself. Darryl Buggs got on base with a single in the 9th inning, but UAB could not bring him around. The score ended at 8-4.
The Blazers can secure a spot in the AAC conference tournament with a win tomorrow. The top eight teams will make the tournament in Clearwater, Florida.
